Day 16: Lima - Orientation to Lima/Presentation on Peruvian Cuisine

Morning flight from Cusco to Lima.  Orientation through Lima with an excursion to the city center, the Plaza de las Armas.  The La Catedral is the most important church in all of Peru. A beautiful colonial building is thought to house the remains of Francisco Pizarro—whether the bones are authentic or not is a matter of conjecture.  We also had a chance to distantly view thru the large crowd at the Plaza, the noon-time changing of the guard at the presidential palace.

Then to Milaflores area restaurant for a presentation on Peruvian cuisine by a local culinary expert, Ricardo.  Lunch at the restaurant, with generous servings, of the tasty items he demonstrated making – yummy  (-:

Because of varied flight schedules, some participants, transfer to the airport this evening for a late night/early morning flight to the U.S.  For us, it meant only a few hours stay at the hotel with airport departure at 7 p.m.  Our flight did not leave until 1 a.m., but we were glad to be at the airport instead of worrying – will be there on time???  We were  (-:
